Spring Authors' Camp:

Beverly Cleary and Roald Dahl

Ages 6-14, Grades 1-8

Sunglow works with children ages 6-14 or grades 1-8 for our after school literacy support. Children are placed in small groups according to their age and grade levels. Separate middle school groups are available.

Coming soon in April, 2012  9am-3pm
The goal of these week long literacy camps is to use literature as a door to a broader world, and the core of these camps lies in building a foundation of knowledge while engaging children in enriching literacy activities that use differentiated instruction.

The camps involve children in the world of literature and ideas by fostering self-expression and confidence. Students experience the satisification that accompanies insight and self-discovery while developing reading skills and a love of learning.

Groups are based on skills and ages as appropriately determined by each student.

Students will study their favorite authors in this  weeklong fun camp.  Children age 6-14 have a  chance to read and share stories written by well known authors.  They will have guided reading groups, read - aloud sessions and a book walk with additional work on building constructive responses to literature.  The afternoon wraps up with a variety of literacy based activities that includes vocabulary bingo and popsicles.

Students do not need to be special education eligible or be receiving Title One services. We work with all students who are struggling with literacy. We want to make reading fun for your child!
